A blend of "tea and bar" with a Showa-era charm.
Hyogo Prefecture, Kobe City. An area where alcohol, literature, and a sophisticated atmosphere harmoniously blend in a retro and elegant way, known as "Nada-Gogo" with many sake breweries. From this area, "Gekko-tei," a members-only online bar, is now opening in Online Snack Alley!
Mama Kiyomi, with her beautiful kimono, created this "fusion" of a tea house and bar, popular among men and women in their 30s to 50s.
After being a high school teacher and cram school instructor, she worked in apparel, then a real estate company, a cafe, a Chinese restaurant, and currently a trading company (she also occasionally does kimono dressing work). Mama, who also has hostess experience in Kitashinchi, Noda, and Gion, is gentle and calm, and her biggest hobby is the tea ceremony. However, she also frequently goes out for drinks and standing bars, loves manga (such as "Tokyo Revengers," "Ushijima the Loan Shark," "Devilman," etc.), and has an active side, saying, "I'll do whatever I want to do!"
A space that is safe, yet a little exciting
At the bar, you can enjoy various conversations about eating out, alcohol, recommended Kyoto sweets, retro Kobe cafes, books by Mama's favorite authors like Osamu Dazai, Shuji Terayama, Jun'ichiro Tanizaki, Natsuhiko Kyogoku, and Japanese culture.
Gekko-tei's concept is "a social gathering place with just the right amount of tension." Mama Kiyomi says, "If you're wondering what a tea and bar fusion is, please come and visit with a little excitement." Women and those who don't drink alcohol are also very welcome.
Preparing a bar centered on tea hospitality
Mama is currently preparing to open a physical store, not just online, to promote Japanese culture. When the physical store opens, it will offer not only matcha and thick tea but also Mama's recommended wines, champagnes, and Japanese sake, with homemade pickles and chikuzenni (simmered chicken and vegetables) as snacks. Mama also dreams of holding tea ceremonies with customers.
Until the physical store opens, she hopes to meet people online whom she wouldn't have otherwise, and expand each other's worlds.
